When we walked into church this morning I was glad to see the Angel Tree. Paper angels with gender and ages listed on them hang on the Angel Tree. For many years we have picked two paper angels off the Angel Tree. Kayla and Kelsey would each pick a girl with the age that they were at the time and we would buy gifts at a local store. This tradition changed since October 31, 2000.
My brother and his wife were happily awaiting the birth of there first child. She was scheduled to be induced on October 31, 2000. Everything was fine at her check-up the day before and they arrived early at the hospital, October 31, 2000 to find no heartbeat. My sister-in-law went through many hours of labor to deliver a full-term stillborn.
Ed and I went during her labor to spend time with them and other family members. We couldn't stay through the delivery as we had two small children to get home to and work the next morning.
She delivered before midnight October 31, 2000. Parents and grandparents were there to hold and cherish their angel, Dalton John.
Beginning the Christmas of 2000, we started picking a boy angel from the Angel Tree along with the age Dalton would be that Christmas. So this year, 2008, we picked a boy, age 8 to buy a gift for.
