Happenings in Our Life

I haven't been very good at updating my blog so I will try to combine everything I can think of that has happened in the last few months.

The girls got out of school May 21 and have the longest vacation ever...a total of 15 weeks of no school. That is over 3 1/2 months!! Of course they are always busy, busy.

Kelsey finished her dance year with a show in early June. Then went right on to two weeks of driver's education and immediately got her permit. Kayla volunteered at our church for a week of vacation bible school. She also has been babysitting up to 10 hours a day here and there. Both girls work at Dairy Land....Dairy Queens competition! They have great ice cream treats, onion rings, and hopefully to Ed's delight, soon, cheese curds, of course everything else is deee--licious!!

Kayla has ran two 5ks this summer...her new venture.


The girls ventured on their first road trip without adults. Along with two friends they took my Ford Edge (Betty Boop) to bible camp, which is about a 5 hour drive. They packed the back end right to the celing with suit cases, bedding, sleeping bags, etc. And they even renamed my stuffed dog to Francis Petunia, the dog who helped them get to camp. And also they renamed my Ford Edge from Betty Boop (it's has B. Boop stickers, seat covers, etc) to Big Bertha!! So I am now driving Kayla's car for two weeks...the flower power, peacekeeper Taurus.

Ed keeps busy mowing the lawn with his new (used) riding lawn mower he inherited. So now he has two riding lawn mowers. I guess I should learn to use one but I would really hate to take away the fun and joy from him. He is busy with the fire department. He has ventured to Wadena with a crew from the FD to help out after the town was struck by a tornado. Also, a group went again this Saturday to help with tree clean-up. That was quite a strenous job. He was quite sore after that.

I continue my exercise classes four days a week. We have a new instructor and she really kicks our butts!!! But I have never felt better...full of energy and just feel overall good. I am always looking for a good summer read.

We are hoping to take a vacation this summer, possibly to Wisconsin Dells. Plans are still tenative. The girls plan on taking a week to go visit relatives in ND and spend time at the lake. Another trip for them....but Betty Boop is staying home and they can take Kayla's car, since they won't need the space. Also, they will be going to a catholic retreat in July. They are looking forward to that awesome weekend.

Ed has a business trip to take in August..so it will be just us girls...oh and the male dogs!

Before you know it school will start. Kayla starts college classes in August and then school starts September 7. So that pretty much sums up our summer!
